Description:
This class for those that wish to serve others with housing and feeding during emergencies. When there are incidents such as tornados, chemical spills, winter storm outages, and hurricane evacuations, and earthquake evacuations, there is a great need for those who focus on Christian hospitality to prepare themselves with training and be ready to serve in a disaster response role. The shelter roles are Shelter Worker, a Shelter Nurse, a Shelter Mental Health Nurse, and Shelter Manager, and this class is required for all who are interested in these assignments.
There is a great need for shelter workers in their local community and surrounding counties. Many churches do not meet the shelter requirements of adequate floor space, rest room facilities, etc. but the member can still serve as shelters are opened at other churches, schools, or other public buildings.
This training event leads one through the steps of opening, receiving, feeding, dorm, area, and closing the shelters and provides a useful reference document.
