Team Leadership-The focus is on the team leader and the background that person will need to lead a Methodist. A part of the material is for the disaster response team, yet other
parts relate to dealing with people or planning and conducting a
successful team project.
101 TL-101 Team Leader (3hrs) There is more information
on the incident command system, leadership styles, aspects of taking a
team in the field, types of insurance and insurance issues, liability
issues to avoid, and issues within a team, and considerations in
selecting a team leader. Pre-requisite: M-100, IS-100, IS-700

102 IS-001 Emergency An Orientation to the Position Manager
This is an in-depth look at the four phases of comprehensive emergency
management; mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.
Included are illustrations, diagrams, and figures. This is not a
required course but is useful to someone without a disaster background.

103 IS-200 ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents This is designed to
enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within
the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides training on and resources for
personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS.
IS-100 is a pre-requisite to the IS-200 course. Lessons are as

communication tool, effective oral communication, and how to prepare an oral

110 IS-244 Developing and Managing Volunteers This course is for
emergency managers and related professionals working with all types of
volunteers and coordinating with voluntary agencies. The course provides
procedures and tools for building and working with voluntary organizations.
Topics include: benefits and challenges of using volunteers; building a volunteer program;
writing job descriptions; developing volunteers through recruitment, placement, training,
supervision and evaluation; coordinating with voluntary agencies and community-based organizations;
and special issues including spontaneous volunteers, liability, and stress.
