FUMC Pearland Coordinates Teams to Respond to Area Needs

FUMC Pearland member Rody Kuchar cuts a fallen tree on the church's property.

Within two days after Hurricane Ike’s destruction, the First United Methodist Church of Pearland in collaboration with Builders Without Borders of Texas, Inc., jumped into action.

Teams were out in the communities of Pearland and nearby Alvin helping those who were struggling to help themselves. Trees were removed from homes and garages; damaged roofs were protected with tarps; wet drywall and flooring was removed from homes with water damage.

Most of the recipients of this outreach were the elderly and the ill. From September 25th through the 28th, a mission team from University United Methodist Church of San Antonio added their gifts, talents and energy to the effort.

Led by Pastor Adam Knight, the team came with 15 members, who lodged at First United Methodist Church , Pearland. The San Antonio team alone provided assistance to 16 households and were a blessing to all!

The number of households touched by the overall outreach of First United Methodist Church , Pearland is well beyond 50… and the outreach continues.
