Small Church Responds to Needs of Those Displaced

We had 19 people (members and some regular attenders) from Waskom who worked at the shelter at the Scottsville Camp and Conference Center .  We had 101 evacuees from Orange at the shelter for Hurricane Ike.  We worked from Thursday, Sept. 11 through until Sept.22. Most of the members were out there multiple times.  One of our members ran the shelter and was there from 12-18 hours every day.

Most of the same people also went to the same shelter and worked while the evacuees stayed for Hurricane Gustav, though that stay was shorter.  I think there were 14 of us at that time, and had 132 evacuees.

I am very proud of the response of our small church to serve the Lord by helping the evacuees while they were sheltered!
